IM A NEWBIE!!!

HI FOLKS!!!.

I'm Ray-so..hmmm what about my bio...so..well
I began to draw since my childhood. I even don't remember those precious times but i'm pretty sure the one of the first drawings i never will forget is that of a machine to make apples i invented.

At puberty, like many of us, i was attracted to the opposite sex which ultimately drove me to the human figure which i was to discover is as complex as hell!
I was fond of human figure-observational studies-collage, prints, painting..but back in time i was like a baby/kid. To be sincere, i didn't know how to draw correctly. I was around 15 or 16, i don't remember...
After 8yrs of learning Art and Design in a great Secondary School (XD - not a prestigious school but i loved all the time spent there), I was then forced into the real world..
Work, Spending, Work, Consume, Work, No Money, Work, Drunk, Work, i really thought i would never see this flickering light at the end of this dark tunnel.
So i decided to take a foundation course. The foundation Diploma in Art and Design. Ever heard of this? Yeah it's a real good course for beginners or less amateur artists and professionals... A foundation basic in drawing, painting, printmaking, designing, or sculpting, is an ideal first step to begin within the art sphere. It started and ended with a big fat one hell of a project (I didn't finished mine because of money, resources...and stuff) but I got a good grade still! XD!
After the foundation course, with my upgraded skills; i began to draw paint, illustrate, and interprete things differently. I've learned a lot thanks to inspired lecturers.

After the foundation course, i applied for jobs, which was way harder than i thought. Finding a job in a particuliar art field in Mauritius was a real pain in the ass but i didn't give up! Art teacher, illustrator, CAD technician or 3D Artist, and so on. It was a fucking rollercoaster ride.
Actually i'm a Draughtsman, for an interior design Company. It's not my dream job but I love it. I work 8hrs a day, rest and create on week ends.

hmmm i'm really trying to tell more about myself... Yeah! I am fond of Bodypainting! XD!!
I discovered bodypainting last year! (the real bodypainting not the crappy stuff you see on TV or in shopping malls, with girls showing off their titties and guys their abs!) I gave it a try on myself with basic gears, and since i've been experimenting...and experimenting, and experimenting again.

My first influence is music! Cliché but actually yeah, it holds an enormous place within my life and influences every little thing i do. My second influence is the Human Being himself, and all the things that make him more or less human. Religion is also a rather big inspiration like music. Even if i'm an atheist...

I think it's time to end to this storytelling shitty bio. lol! So umm my works will be uploaded soon, and i hope that you will all appreciate it.

See ya!!

ART IS NOT JUST ART!

..as I always say. My influences vary from the 90's era to actual crap created by local artists arrogant enough to auto-proclaim themselves as 'contemporary artist'. I do not consider myself as a critic but as an observer, hidden in the darkness, biding his time... Yes, to be honest, I've never made a single exhibition. So you're surely wondering : 'Who the hell does he think he is?!'
I'm from a little island lost in the Indian Ocean, called 'MAURITIUS'. Surely some of you lovers, engaged, almost married, or happily married people may be planning your coming honeymoon or holidays on my tiny island. What you might not know is that we're not only a bunch of sandy beaches, blue lagoon, and coconuts trees -.-''. Mauritius is one hell of a beautiful country but a corrupted one as well, with corrupted people all over the place. Cash Cash Cash!! In fact there is a segment of our island which is the property of some big fat country! Here we call it, 'Maurice c'est un plaisir'', where anyone can bring along his big wallet and take whatever he wants. But lets carry on with our main subject here...
I never left my dear country which i love corrupted, polluted or not! I've been waiting, biding my time like i said and practicing. For who knows? Someone, somewhere might notice my artworks, and decide to fly me out of Mauritius! just kidding here. On a more serious note, i'm just working on my project which i named ''PROJECT HUMAN''.
2 years back, the discovery of body painting provided me with a deep fascination for the human body. Not the observational shit that you tell your kids to learn in high school but the history behind each form and figure that actually make the human body a unique piece of art. Art is not just art. What we see is never what actually is. The human body is made up of blood, flesh and bones. What the artist usually does is showing the beauty of the human flesh ONLY! Do you know that every piece of 'you' is unique, and made exactly perfect to fit other parts of your body? That's how great nature (god?!) actually is! Evolving to create a balance into each and everything. Our bones-real fascination, the size, the curves, the exact amount, the mensuration, all was calculated to "give birth" to the exact person you are turning out to be.
It's a bit confusing, but im getting to the point.. What i do, is to implode and to explode all that i just said above.

'the red link'
Here is one of my firsts experience. Acrylic on cardboard. Size A3. As you can see i recreate from destruction, apply color directly to a not well primed support. (Influence from Fauvism i guess.). Yes it is an implosion face.
The beauty that I find in the human body ( the long hours of drawing workshops at school), brought me to this. Each 'main' curve that carve our body, is taken then projected it to a different vanishing point. Yet, sometimes the results can come out to be quite different from what was expected. When ideas come through, i do not respect my initial ones.

In my opinion, this piece is one is one of my best achievements but you can surely notice that all the crap that ive just said above is not what we actually see here. In this particular piece, it is as if destruction was not made, but avoided to the limit.
